Revived Mid-Century Serveware

The Tortugaware Plates Reimagine Functional Ceramics for Today

Tortugaware reinterprets classic ceramic forms through a serveware collection developed by Office of Tangible Space. The series includes plates, bowls, and platters shaped with soft organic curves that echo mid-century pottery while remaining contemporary. Each piece is formed in stoneware with rounded, rolling-edge rims that make the objects easier to lift and stack. The palette uses warm earth tones and satin finishes that highlight the clay’s texture and natural variation. The result feels familiar but not nostalgic, presenting mid-century influence as a foundation rather than a stylistic imitation.

The designers approached the collection as a study in utilitarian sculpture, prioritising proportions and touch over ornamentation. Surfaces are intentionally simple so the form communicates most of the visual interest, and each item is fired for durability suited to everyday use. The pieces work as cohesive sets or standalone accents, reinforcing the idea that elevated tableware can be both functional and quietly expressive.
