Timo Arnell Peels Back the Layers of the Web

In an exciting documentary film, Tim Arnell explores what the Internet actually is, since so many people use it on a daily basis, but don't fully understand how everything works. Arnell worked to show the materiality behind the web in his latest work.

According to the artist, he "wanted to look beyond the childish myth of 'the cloud,' [and] investigate what the infrastructures of the Internet actually look like." He shows that there are physical machines that keep this immense and influential piece of technology going on a daily basis, and really tries to bring them to life through the sounds of hums and various bursts of energy.

It's hard to comprehend the realities of the Internet, but Tim Arnell does his best to try and bring more meaning to this illusive system in his film 'Internet Machine.'
