Swedish design studio Johan Sundberg Arkitektur designs a new extension dubbed the Timjan to add to an old villa in Lund. It was originally built in the 1920s and features an apple orchard on the property. The new extension adds a modern feel to the space and a contrast to the existing space.
It opens up with a spacious entrance, leading to a guest room, kitchenette, and bathroom. Sundberg explains to Dezeen that "The core aim of the extension was to create a low-slung modern addition that would work with the existing house and its beautiful garden. We wanted to create a design that was clearly subordinate but not grovelling. This is the classic question: how do we add something new to something old?"
