A Tiger in a Museum is a playful concept that is tied to a popular saying -- “A Tiger in a museum is a tiger in a museum and not a tiger.” It is also an event series that is closely tied to the dynamic relationship between “museum, book, and reading,” deciphering between what is real and what is an artifact injected into the world of the institution.
The series is a joint effort from the MaDok -- a program that is run by the Museum of Ethnography, and LUMEN Café. To gain traction and draw attention to the educational series, the founders of the experience tapped the graphic expertise of Budapest-based studio de_form. The imagery is reminiscent of the intricate blue illustration one would find on ornamental ancient vases.
