Third-Party Shopping Services

Zalando Uses AI to Buy from Westwing

Zalando Extended turns outside-store browsing into in-app checkout, letting customers buy from third-party online retailers without leaving the Zalando app. The AI-powered service also puts an AI agent in charge of completing purchases on the customer’s behalf from 2027, with Westwing as the first partner.

The rollout starts with premium homeware retailer Westwing, so the service begins with a category where styling and assortment matter. It broadens Zalando’s product offer beyond items it stocks directly, while giving outside retailers access to its customer base without complex technical integrations.

With Westwing as the first partner, Zalando is using AI to make its app a storefront as well as a marketplace. That move can pull more shopping activity into one interface and makes checkout a service layer, not just a final step.
