Kitchen-Inspired Chair Designs

Phillippe Starck and Alberto Alessi Design the Poêle Collection

Philippe Starck created the Poêle Collection for Alessi and this marks their first furniture collection together after a slew of other design projects. The capsule features a chair, a coat rack, and two stools -- these use cold-pressed metal technology and it is a process that started in the 50s.

This was to create a modern way to create tasteful and inviting structures. The word Poêle means 'pan' in French and the capsule nods to the brand's history of creating products for kitchen purposes. Alberto Alessi shares, “I have been trying to make a chair with Philippe Starck for around 20 years now and, finally, we did it. I asked him if it was possible to design a chair that is manufactured like a frying pan is made using the Alessi cold-press metal high-technology. As is always the case with Starck, it started with a subversion."
