This minimal desk, dubbed the Piano desk, is designed by João Teixeira. The instrument-inspired worktop uses a dipped shelf to allow the user to prop up reading materials conveniently. At the same time, the minimalist design provides a shallow storage space for desktop stationery.
The Piano desk is created with a hybrid material selection. Incorporating familiar elements from wooden desks with a contrasting metallic shelf backing, this piece of furniture embodies a minimalist yet functional design. The two materials harmoniously combine warmth and sleekness to give off a slim silhouette. The shelf feature includes rounded corners on both sides. This concept discards the typical desk drawer to highlight a different set of functional priorities rather than providing the user with discreet storage options.
