The Gramovox Plays Modern Tunes with a Distinctly Vintage Twist

The Gramovox is a new type of speaker that combines vintage style with modern technology. It was inspired by the gramophone, specifically the Magnavox R3. The designers wanted a wireless speaker (it connects to your phone/MP3 player via Bluetooth) that could recreate life back in the 1920s, when families and friends gathered around the gramophone to listen to music, the news and radio programs.

The result is the Gramovox, a 3:4 recreation of the Magnavox R3. A lot of effort was put into the Gramovox to ensure that it both looked and sounded the part. The sound that comes out of its steel horn is like nothing made by any modern speaker, and that's a good thing. The folks behind the Gramovox have taken to Kickstarter to raise $100,000, with a pledge of $249 required to secure one for yourself.
