Stained Beechwood Chairs

The Filo Chair by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec is Designed fro Mattiazzi

The Filo chair is designed by Ronan and Erwan Bouroullec for the furniture and home decor brand Mattiazzi. Made from stained beechwood, the Filo chair is wrapped in rope to create a graphic sensibility. Using robust lines to contour its frame, the chair boasts a typographic appearance from its side profile.

The French brothers applied their knowledge from past projects to create a structure that maximizes strength and minimizes wood waste. Ronan Bouroullec explains: "Filo is very well composed [chair] in the sense of its lines, the tension, and the radius, but it's a bit more square than our usual work." The chair is best suited around a rectangular table to create an appealing geometric design.
