The The Bugle by Design by Joffey is a vertical coat and umbrella stand shaped to mimic the form of a bugle, intended for use in narrow entryways where traditional coat racks take up excessive floor space. The rack consists of a slender pole rising from a circular base, with a single curved loop that provides hanging space for coats, scarves, and similar items. A smaller ring integrated into the larger curve functions as a holder for umbrellas.
The curved loop and ring are sized to support garments and accessories without protruding into circulation areas, allowing the unit to occupy roughly the same footprint as a single chair. The rack’s silhouette approximates the flared bell and looping tubing of a brass bugle, with all hanging points arranged along the continuous form. The base is designed for stability against tipping during daily use.

Trend Themes
-
Space-saving Vertical Storage — A shift toward slender, upright storage solutions that occupy a chair-sized footprint creates opportunities for compact-entryway furnishings that maintain full hanging capacity without encroaching on circulation space.
-
Biomorphic Design Aesthetics — Forms that mimic organic or instrument-like silhouettes provide emotional resonance while enabling continuous, multi-point hanging geometry integrated into a single sculptural element.
-
Integrated Accessory Holders — Combining umbrella, scarf, and coat storage into nested loops or rings along one vertical axis reduces floor clutter and enhances stability compared with separate stands and bins.
Industry Implications
-
Residential Furniture — Urban apartment and micro-living product lines can be reimagined around vertical, multi-function coat systems that deliver storage density without expanding floor area.
-
Hospitality Design — Small-lobby hotels and boutique B&Bs benefit from narrow-profile racks that preserve guest circulation while providing clear, elegant garment storage.
-
Retail Visual Merchandising — Store layouts can use slim, sculptural hanging fixtures to showcase outerwear and accessories without consuming valuable floor space or obstructing shopper flow.
