Girl-Empowering Tech Festivals

Singer Robyn is Launching an Event to Promote Women in Technology

Popular recording artist Robyn recently announced she will be establishing a tech festival for girls in partnership with the Royal Institute of Technology in Sweden. The 'Dancing On My Own' singer is creating a one-day event that promotes women in tech. Called Tekla, the festival is occurring in April 18th, 2015.

Targeting girls from 11 to 18 years of age, the tech festival hopes to address the gender gap in the male-dominated technology industry by building up young women. Tekla will not only include a headlining performance by Robyn, but will also have motivational speeches and workshops. In a press release, Robyn explained girls will "get to sample different areas of future technology in what I believe will be a fun and imaginative environment."
