The Sweetheart Pinata Cake doesn't need to be hit with a stick burst open in a flood of candy. Instead, all is needed is a sharp knife to cut a slice out of it like a traditional cake. Granted, a knife would work with an actual pinata, though that would take the fun out of it. But it doesn't with the Sweetheart Pinata Cake since its candy center is completely unexpected.
Created by Beth Jackson Klosterboer of Hungry Happenings, the Sweetheart Pinata Cake is a fun way to celebrate Valentine's Day. Shaped like the conversation hearts it is filled with, it is a deceptively simple baked good. It is also relatively easy to make. Essentially layers of hollowed heart cake are piled up, filled with candy and then topped with a full slab of cake.
