Contemporary Layered Steel Lamps

The Strata Lamp is a Handmade Steel Table Lamp

The Strata lamp was designed by Aleksandr Misiukevich as a handmade table lamp inspired by the layered formations of sedimentary rock. The design is constructed from stacked steel plates separated by cylindrical standoffs, allowing warm light to radiate through the gaps and the open front edge. The steel structure serves as both the housing and reflector, producing a layered glow that shifts from amber to yellow across the interior surfaces. An exposed orange power cord complements the otherwise restrained palette of matte gray and polished steel.

The lamp uses a magnetic reed switch activated by a small cylindrical magnet attached to the body with a metal ring. Placing the magnet on a marked point on the front panel turns the light on, while removing it switches the lamp off, with a dedicated post providing storage when the magnet is not in use.
