Scientists at the University of Manchester have recently been working on a new material dubbed StarCrete, which is a strong brick that is made from a plethora of materials. Some of these include extra-terrestrial dust, potato starch, and a pinch of salt. The unique list of ingredients comes together to formulate a product that is as strong as concrete.
The material is described as "perfectly suited for construction work" in space as researchers have found that it has over double the strength of regular concrete with 72 MPs. The ones that are made from moon dust are even stronger with 91 MPa. The team had also noted that one sack of dehydrated potatoes is enough starch to create half a tonne of StarCrete.
