As you may have guessed, these Stackable Skeleton Coffee Mugs are made from bone China. Their decoration has thus become a clever literal play on the materiality of the compact cups.

There are four drinking vessels in the eccentric collection, each with a different section of the human form printed onto its side. As separates, the teacups display snippets of visual intrigue through the dark crosshatching on the otherwise pristine white surfaces. You can tell what each depicts, but the whole picture is much clearer when the coffee cups are assembled into a pillar in a particular order.

Phoebe Richardson's modern and minimalist morbid art is suddenly very discernible as a complete sketch of bone-based anatomy. The Stackable Skeleton Coffee Mugs make a contemporary, iconic and whimsical addition to a lifeless kitchen cupboard.
