Superhero Musicals

Can "Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark" Conquer Broadway?

Director Julie Taymor is collaborating with Bono and Edge of U2 to bring Spiderman to Broadway. The musical plans to depict the story of how the superhero came into being is currently titled ‘Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark.’

There is much speculation as to whether the Grammy-winning performers will be able to make this musical a success. There have been plenty of mainstream artists who have tried their hands at compositions for Broadway hits, but it is not easy to succeed.

With estimated costs of $40 million, “Spiderman: The Musical” is the most expensive musical production of its kind.
