This Special Olympics Ad Ties in with Father's Day Celebrations

To coincide with Father's Day just ahead of this year's Summer Olympics in Rio, Young & Rubicam Mexico created a special commercial spot for the Special Olympics.

The 'I'm Your Fan' ad tells the story of a man who is eagerly awaiting the birth of his son, hoping to teach him everything he knows about football, only to be met with a "most unexpected surprise"—his newborn turned out to be a baby girl instead.

The commercial is a proud celebration of unconditional parental love, where the tables are turned and the father ends up saying that he learned more than he could have thought from his daughter. In the ad, she is depicted as 2015 World Champion María Bárbara Wetzel. This commercial is one example that portrays modern fathers in a new, more sensitive light.
