Photographer Dominik Smialowski's creative series 'The Pilot's Melancholy' is space inspired. These striking shots have a beautiful mountain setting, and feature a steampunk style astronaut, who seems to be exploring the territory.

Sure, astronauts are typically known to take part in space exploration, but the familiar setting is a part of what makes this series so intriguing. It reminds viewers that people don't always appreciate the beauty in their surroundings. The world is such a big and beautiful place. It would take more than a lifetime to see it all, much like space. Watching a peculiar astronaut stumble around a striking mountainside serves as a reminder to stop and smell the roses.

Smialowski's steampunk astronaut seems unimpressed in his gorgeous surroundings. I guess an astronaut out of space is like a fish out of water.
