This Sony eReader ad perpetuates the influx of electronic books on the market today.
The Sony eReader ad itself is pretty straightforward and shows three different “book trees” reaching high into the sky. The caption below this set of print ads reads “An educated person reads one tree of books a year. Switch to e-books.”
So on one hand, Sony is appealing to the environmentalists by promoting their Sony eReader device by pointing out the unnecessary paper that is wasted printing books. Why print all those paper books when you can leave that tree in the ground and read an eBook?
On the other hand, it comes across a bit elitist with the language “an educated person.”
