Amidst the hardships of COVID-19, Laura Jane Petelko was inspired to photograph her series dubbed 'Soft Stories.' What began in 2019 as the artist's exploration of the need for intimacy in a digital world ended as an expression of the longing for connection during the pandemic.
The enigmatic photographs in Soft Stories express the communal reality of losing touch with human connections. The series, therefore, alludes to the distance and isolation that many have felt throughout this year's lockdown. Laura Jane captured creatures standing in desolate yet majestic Canadian landscapes.
