Thanks to the Snoop app old tablets and smartphones can now double as security cameras. The app, available on both iOS and Android, connects your smartphone with an extra device laying around your house. One device "casts" and the other "watches." The devices don't have to be on the same wireless network and the feed is encrypted.

The Snoop app's beauty lies in its simplicity. It's easy to use and setup. That being said it's not a legitimate alternative to an actual security camera. There doesn't seem to be any way to store footage so it's not like you could use the Snoop app to report a crime to police. Instead the app seems to be more about security in a pinch and fun. Think spying on your pets or teens left home alone.
