Connected Japanese Smart Stadiums

NTT Boasts Multi-Media Stadiums with Community-Focused Features

With the Tokyo Olympics 2020 just around the corner, organizers are beginning to announce smart stadium opportunities. NTT is a leading player in the category as it offers fast Wi-Fi connectivity that unlocks "high-quality streaming services," as well as "enhanced experiences for fans both in and around the stadium."

The accompanying mobile application truly alleviates the chaos that such events can cause. Fans can use their phones to check athlete statistics and performances, as well as access instant playbacks and replays. Moreover, users can "pre-order food and get it delivered during a match." Finally, NTT's solution provides "an immersive telepresence technology called Kirari" that relies on a hologram-like tactic to simulate the play for people not in the venue.

Some of the smart stadium experiences are already being utilized at the Kashima soccer stadium, as well as during the matches of Japanese J-League and Italian La Liga.
