Architectural firm Urko Sanchez recently put together a car-free small town suburb design made exclusively with safe play in mind. The streets of the village are entirely car-free offering residential space of 15 homes that children can play aimlessly around without having to worry about on-coming traffic.
Playing in the streets is a nostalgic notion for many adults that in the present day can be difficult for children to enjoy due to the high population of vehicles in urban areas. Urko Sanchez put together an impoverished residential space in Djibouti that offers this luxury. The design features 15 homes that are arranged to provide access to open spaces, pedestrian-only streets and courtyards for children to play. The urban space is small and quaint modeled to the local area and climate.
