Simplified Digital Voice Assistants

Apple Plans to Simplify Hey Siri Down to Just 'Siri'

Tech giant Apple is planning to alter the way that users are currently interacting with Siri by shortening the 'Hey Siri' phrase down to simply just 'Siri.' The company notes that although it seems like a simple change, it involves a “significant amount of AI training and underlying engineering work" according to Mark Gurman from Bloomberg.

It is due to the two-word trigger currently as it increases the likelihood of the actual programming responding to a voice-activated request. The new change makes it more simple to string together more voice commands. This allows Apple to match the offerings of both Amazon and Google as well, as Alexa is already able to respond to just 'Alexa' and Google can understand back-to-back commends.
