Siemens Designed Pendulum Seats for Mass Transportation Services

As the world slowly comes out of lockdowns, SIemens wants to help make the transition to half or full capacity in public transportation seamless. Mass transportation services are once again becoming crowded in many countries. Siemens aims to accommodate both sitting and standing passengers with its Pendulum Seat design.

While the Pendulum Seat's name may suggest that it moves forward and backward like a swing, instead, it is more like the pendulum of a metronome, which can be fixed in position. Each seat fits two riders whose backrests can either fold up or swivel down for various seating positions. The backrest's flexibility allows more riders to sit as the backrest expands into an additional seat.
