Shopbox aims to make home delivery services more convenient thanks to a lockable and refrigerated units that keep contents secure until a homeowner is able to receive them. The boxes are designed to help alleviate the high costs of delivery that retailers often take on, as well as the struggle of trying to arrange a drop-off during a scheduled time. When an item can't be dropped off, delivery trucks are often required to do twice the amount of travel or more to ensure an item ends up where it should be.
The boxes themselves are about a meter tall and wide, equipped with three storage compartments, where eutectic is used to keep items like food chilled. It's estimated that the boxes are able to contain a family-sized grocery shop for about 12 hours at the right temperature.
