Microsoft's 'Seeing AI' is a new development that's proving that artificial intelligence has a purpose that extends past entertainment value.
'Seeing AI' is a smartphone connected tool that aims to help those with visual impairments navigate their surroundings with a little more ease. The update features "talking camera" technology, which can read and interpret surroundings translating them in real-time for the user. Listed features include: scanning and reading documents, detecting what bills the user has in their hand and reading bar codes to interpreting what product the user is holding. However, the true innovation of this software lies within its learning ability -- Microsoft claims 'Seeing AI' will have the ability to learn the faces of frequently seen people, and read their expressions while attempting to describe the user's surroundings.
