Hijau Coffee is a San Jose specialty cafe devoted to Indonesian-grown single-origin coffees and heritage flavors, founded by Lisa Maria and Ryan Prawiradjaja. The menu features pandan lattes and signature drinks like the Nastar Latte inspired by pineapple tarts and the Klepon Latte based on the glutinous rice cake, with a seasonal Wedang Latte that blends coconut sugar, ginger and lemongrass.
The interior mixes oak, quartz and the brand’s signature green tile with bamboo and rattan lighting, batik textiles and handmade Yogyakarta ceramics. Bar equipment includes a custom green three-group La Marzocco Strada S AV, Mahlkönig E80W grinders mounted over Puqpress tampers, an EK43 for batch brew and a Mazzer Philos for single-dose pourovers. Coffees are roasted in collaboration with Barefoot Coffee.
The cafe creates a sensory route to Indonesian culture through flavor-forward drinks and market snacks such as putu ayu and pastel ayam. Focusing on refining the store and growing its customer base, Hijau aims to broaden representation of Indonesian coffee in the Bay Area.
