Sam Green captures that magical moment when people are just about to surface from the water in these stunningly realistic drawings. They’re visuals that truly have to be seen to be believed as viewers can discern that they’re most likely based on high-speed photographs, but seeing still frames out of context and framed in such abstract compositions makes for a surreal ocular experience.

From this gallery, one can deduce that Sam Green illustrated these images using a pencil. He not only does a fine job of capturing human likeness, he also emulates water effects to a degree so spectacular that audiences can’t help but be in awe. Who knew pictures based on reality could be stranger than fiction?
