This crowdfunding platform is designed to help women in developing communities gain access to safe birth facilities. Kangu helps those suffering from poverty who are at risk of dying during childbirth. The site lets people send finances to an individual who cannot afford the appropriate healthcare.

90% of the time, death during childbirth is preventable as mothers simply do not have access to hospitals with safe birth equipment. The startup is trying to change this statistic.

Similar to other crowdfunding sites, Kangu allows people to browse personal cases, view their personal details, see their fundraising goals and progress and donate to their campaign. The due date acts as the closing date. Kangu received 15% of contributions, while the rest of the funds go to the local healthcare provider the mother designates.
