A Rwandan tribute took place on Monday to mark the 20th anniversary of the devastating genocide that resulted in nearly 1 million people dying. On Monday, thousands of people gathered at Amahoro Stadium. It is a sports stadium in Kigali, and they proceeded to honor victims of the Rwandan Genocide there.
Rwandan President Paul Kagame said "As we pay tribute to the victims, both the living and those who have passed, we also salute the unbreakable Rwandan spirit in which we owe the survival and renewal of our country" at the public event.
They even had performers re-enact the events at a public ceremony to mark the 20th anniversary of the Rwandan genocide. As well as a display of family photographs of some of those who died during this tragic event. Although many lives have been lost, the Rwandan tribute will forever hold their memories in many eyes.
