The Rubber Table incorporates the function of toilet plungers into the stool's legs.
Designed by Thomas Schnur, the toilet-plunging table sets "in motion a new way of looking at this ambivalent object." Thomas Schnur's creations use familiar fragments that allude to the item's original function while introducing it into a new environment. The Rubber Table definitely uses a suction cup design in a clever way.
Implications - Urban cities are becoming increasingly more populated causing living spaces to decrease in size. Consumers are desperate for household furniture that is both functional and compact. Companies that design products that are tailored for small spaces (i.e. IKEA) will appeal to this urban demographic.
