Canadian design firm Yabu Pushelberg has presented the new Rua Ipanema Chair design for Toronto-based brand Man of Parts. The chair is defined by sweeping lines, which give it a dynamic feeling of Oscar Niemeyer's modernist buildings. Yabu Pushelberg also wanted to nod to other elements of the urban landscape in Brazil, including the patterned mosaic sidewalks of Rio de Janeiro's Rua Ipanema.
The beachside street is also the inspiration behind the namesake of the chair. All together, these components come together in the design that is meant to evoke a relaxed elegance which references Brazil. The Rua Ipanema Chair is made in Italy and rests on a swiveling base in the options of either walnut veneer or anthracite finish.
