The 'Root Bench' is an oversized outdoor furniture fixture that is intended to offer visitors a communal space for them to sit, meet, converse and even play in the exterior environment. The bench installation is located in Ichon-dong, Yongsan-gu, Seoul, South Korea and features a naturalistic design that extends outwards from the center to call to mind tree roots. The true majesty of the seating installation can be admired from high above, which provides perspective on the ultra-artistic fixture.
The 'Root Bench' is the design work of Yong Ju Lee who utilizes a computer algorithm in order to achieve the ethereal exterior furniture piece and is a winning proposal that was submitted to the Hangang Art Competition.
