Ever since the September 11th tragedy struck America and the rest of the world, artist Rob Surette has wanted to pay tribute to the heroes, survivors and lost loved ones. Nearly 10 years later, the artist has finally done just that. Rob Surette has created the world's largest Lite-Brite image, which features American faces on the left and faces from the rest of the world on the right, all gazing at each other in a warm and friendly manner.
A labor of love, Rob Surette's unique Lite-Brite art installation, appropriately and poignantly titled World Peace, took exactly 365 days to complete, with the last 504,000th Lite-Brite peg put in on July 4, 2011. It spans 20 feet long and 10 feet high.
