Patient-Accessible Heart Monitoring

Abbott Gives CardioMEMS Patients Access to Pressure Data

Abbott is expanding patient-accessible heart monitoring by giving U.S. CardioMEMS patients direct access to pulmonary artery pressure readings through the CardioGuide HF App. The FDA-approved capabilities allow patients to view pressure trends on their smartphones, helping them understand changes that can indicate worsening heart failure before noticeable symptoms appear. A Dynamic Treatment Plan feature also enables care teams to send personalized medication updates directly through the app based on pressure changes.

Connecting implanted sensor data with a patient-facing app extends heart failure management beyond scheduled medical appointments. For Abbott, the approach strengthens the value of CardioMEMS by combining remote monitoring with ongoing patient engagement and clinician communication. Giving patients actionable information may support greater participation in treatment plans, while digital medication guidance can help care teams respond to changing conditions remotely and potentially reduce the need for preventable hospital visits.
