Contour Airlines is expanding regional air access with nonstop flights from DuBois Regional Airport to Atlanta and Chicago O’Hare, starting Feb. 1, 2027. The added service gives residents, business travelers and visitors a local way to reach two major connecting hubs, avoiding a longer drive to a larger airport.
Atlanta service runs daily, while Chicago flights operate five days a week. Contour is using 30-seat regional jets with extra legroom, a snack and in-flight service, aiming to keep short-haul trips comfortable while linking a smaller airport to broader domestic and international networks.
Daily Atlanta access and five-day Chicago service make DuBois a more practical starting point for regional business trips and visitor traffic. Local departures to major hubs broaden the role smaller airports can play in network travel by competing on convenience rather than destination count.

What's Driving This Trend
- Regional Hub Connectivity
- Smaller airports are becoming more valuable as gateways to major airline networks, creating room for tech-enabled scheduling, interline partnerships and localized travel services.
- Convenience-led Air Travel
- Passenger preference for shorter ground travel and easier airport access is reshaping competitive advantages around time savings, comfort and proximity.
- Right-sized Regional Jets
- Compact aircraft with enhanced passenger amenities are supporting sustainable short-haul routes where demand is too limited for larger planes but strong enough for premium regional service.
Who This Affects Most
- Regional Airlines
- Expanded hub-linked routes can redefine regional carriers as essential network partners rather than niche operators serving isolated markets.
- Airport Operations
- Local airports have new potential to develop revenue streams around business travel, parking, hospitality and integrated ground transportation.
- Business Travel
- More direct access from smaller communities to global hubs can improve trip efficiency for companies with distributed workforces and regional client bases.
