Germany automaker Volkswagen has revealed the Volkswagen Rallycross Beetle, the vehicle it will be using in the Red Bull Global Rallycross championship coming up later this year. This vehicle is a lot more turbocharged than the classic Volkswagen Beetle however, with its 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine pumping out 544 horsepower.
The vehicle, which weighs 2,688 pounds, is capable of zooming from zero to 100 km/h in only 2.1 seconds, something your grandfather's Beetle couldn't dream of doing. It also has an intimidating and aerodynamic presence with its huge rear spoiler, front aero kit and flared wheel arches. It is fitted with 17-inch wheels set in Yokohama racing tires. The tires are hooked up to brakes with four piston calipers.
The new Volkswagen Rallycross Beetle replaces the old Rallycross Polo, which itself has notched up two rally wins.
