The Two-Spirit Rainbow Pow Wow Celebrates Indigenous Culture

This year, Toronto Pride is hosting the first ever Two-Spirit Rainbow Pow Wow. Two-Spirit is a distinct gender identity that describes a person gifted with both masculine and feminine spirits. The cross gender identity is an important part of Indigenous culture and this year it is being celebrated with a special Pride Month Event.

The Two-Spirit Rainbow Pow Wow takes place on July 1st at Toronto's TD Village Stage. The event is completely free to attend and will involve a celebration of Indigenous art, music and dance. Some of the noteworthy performances include JUNO award-winning duo Digging Roots and Two-Spirit artist Shawnee. Electro dance music will also be provided by DJ Shub of the popular group A Tribe Called Red.

The event not only helps to shine a light on Toronto's Two-Spirit community, but it also celebrates Indigenous culture more generally.
