Roku entered into a deal to acquire exclusive rights to Quibi's content after the two companies were in talks, however no financial details of the deal were publicly released.
Roku also indicated that it will make Quibi's content available for free, but that it will have ads. Viewers will be able to access the content through The Roku Channel and it will include shows that were previously on Quibi, as well as content that has not yet been released. Quibi's content that was originally intended for mobile viewing will now be primarily available on TVs through the Roku platform.
“Today’s announcement marks a rare opportunity to acquire compelling original content that features some of the biggest names in entertainment,” said Rob Holmes, the vice president of programming at Roku.
