Shiseido is a Japanese personal care company that deals in skincare, makeup and fragrance, but it's also exploring new territory with an app that can read the quality of a smile.
This app's software is currently being tested with 5,000 Japan Airlines flight attendants over the next few months. The meter on this tablet application is designed to use facial recognition technology from KART (Koozyt AR Technology) and Sony to measure if a smile is too "unemotional" or at the highest, bright and genuine, on a scale from zero to 120.
The app is currently unnamed, but Shiseido has plans to release the app for commercial use in 2017. This app could have potential applications among the customer service and hospitality industries.
