Engagement 101, a platform devoted to sharing all things engagement-related, recently launched 'Propose Too' as a new movement that asks questions like "Why, in 2018, are straight men still expected to be the ones to propose? Why not propose to each other like many same-sex couples do?" With Propose Too, Engagement 101 is starting conversations and challenging societal norms by inspiring women to propose first and propose back.
As Engagement 101 Founder Severine Ferrari says, "Our female audience continuously expresses to us how frustrated they are to be dependent on the boyfriend deciding the timing of the proposal. I thought that it was time to tip the scales towards women's empowerment in committed straight relationships." On the engagement platform, women can now find resources like quizzes, guides, articles and more.
While it is custom for women to wear an engagement ring, men do not generally put on a ring until their wedding day. To address this, Ferrari and jewelry designer Chris Ploof created a dog tag "proposal pendant" with a diamond.
