Pop Culture Propaganda Posters

The Pop Culture Propaganda Ads Fuse the Modern with the Classic

While it seems almost blasphemous to think about the government using blatant propaganda posters in this day and age, they were once a prominent part of society. In an inventive piece of culture jamming, David Redon combines the prominence of old propaganda ads with the prominence of modern celebrities.

The project is called 'Ads libitum' and it cleverly remixes artists into very famous posters. We see Kanye West inserted into the famous women rights advocating "We can do it" poster, Daft Punk "getting lucky" at a casino and even a young Michael Jackson on an aerosol can poster.

Re-appropriation is one of the best ways to get a point across in the most inventive of ways. This propaganda poster set does that in one of the smoothest and classiest ways possible.
