Professional-Grade Standard Zoom Lenses

Nikon Debuts the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II

Nikon Inc. has introduced a second iteration of its professional-grade standard zoom lens — the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S II. The model, which was designed for full-frame mirrorless cameras, claims several class-leading specifications, including the lightest weight and fastest autofocus performance within its category. This particular capability is achieved through the first implementation of Silky Swift Voice Coil Motor (SSVCM) technology in a zoom lens.

Nikon's professional-grade standard zoom lens design incorporates an internal zoom mechanism that enhances operational stability and improves environmental sealing against dust and moisture. Optical advancements include a new multi-focusing system, an 11-blade aperture for smoother bokeh, and specialized coatings to minimize reflections and flare. Additional features cater to videographers, such as reduced focus breathing and a switchable control ring, while maintaining a constant f/2.8 aperture throughout the zoom range.
