Intradermal Polio Vaccination Initiatives

PharmaJet is Helping Eradicate Polio in Afghanistan

PharmaJet has secured a contract to facilitate the inaugural major deployment of an intradermal polio vaccination initiative in Afghanistan, utilizing its Tropis needle-free delivery mechanism. This development is an extension of the system's prior application in analogous public health endeavors across Pakistan, Nigeria, and Somalia.

PharmaJet's technology is intended for the administration of fractional doses of inactivated polio vaccine (fIPV) as part of a broader strategy to interrupt the persistent circulation of wild poliovirus type 1, which has seen a notable resurgence in the region. The approach involves a site-to-site immunization model and establishes multiple accessible points to offer vaccination services. According to the company, the adoption of this method in previous campaigns has been associated with enhanced rates of vaccine uptake, a reduction in overall program expenditures, and greater acceptance among both recipients and healthcare workers.
