The music-streaming company Pandora is furthering its support for podcasts by launching its new 'Podcast Genome Project' tool. Much like Pandora's music recommendation tool, the 'Podcast Genome Project' tool categorizes various podcasts based on several characteristics and uses those categories to make recommendations to listeners. However, unlike the music tool, this new podcast-focused option will also take advantage of human curation to help users discover podcasts.
In addition to analyzing over 1,500 attributes of podcasts, the 'Podcast Genom Project' will also take user feedback into consideration. This includes things like thumbs-up or thumbs-down ratings, skips, and replays. These factors will be observed by machine learning analysis and natural language processing to accurately build a profile for each individual user.
