Garden Shed-Inspired Restaurants

OPA Designs the Plumbago Restaurant in Mexico City

Local design firm OPA has designed Plumbago, which is a restaurant designed with inspiration from the look of a garden shed. It is clad in corrugated polycarbonate sheets spread across a set of volumes developed next to one another in a compact space in the Cuauhtemoc neighborhood.

Yuste and Mañón explain, "We wanted to maximise natural light and visual transparency between the street and the interior terrace, encouraging the curiosity of the passersby. The result is a room inundated with light, creating a harmonious and unique atmosphere. Our aim was to accentuate the structure, highlighting the contrast between the industrial feel of the steel and polycarbonate sheet with the natural texture of the brick and vegetation."
