The 'Plisago' side table appears to be made from soft textiles that have been tightly pulled over sturdy base, but is actually made from an unlikely material to create this illusionary design.
Created by Studio Besau-Marguerre for Fürstenberg, the table is crafted from porcelain, which makes it something of a departure from conventional building materials for furniture. The porcelain has been crafted in such a way to create visual texture that is angular, slightly imperfect from afar yet stylishly elegant from an unclose perspective.
The 'Plisago' side table has been designed in several subtle color choices and in two height variations, and conveys the aesthetic of today with a material that has otherwise been confined to the china cabinet. The table is the Gold Winner of the German Design Award for 2018.
