Lidl is the First Retailer to Receive the Plant-Based Trademark

— January 10, 2025 — Marketing
The Vegetarian Society's Plant-Based Trademark has been certified for use by grocery brand Lidl for one of its plant-based product lineups to provide shoppers with peace of mind when making a purchase. The trademark accreditation will be showcased by Lidl on its Vemondo Plant! range, which consists of a wide number of ready meals, ingredients and additional vegetable-based products. The trademark was debuted late last year due to demand from manufacturers and goes beyond the proposed ISO definition of foods that are plant-based to ensure they have key plant-based characteristics.

Head of Trademarks at The Vegetarian Society Vanessa Brown spoke on the Plant-Based Trademark saying, "It’s fabulous to have Lidl on board with its fantastic Vemondo Plant! range now being certified to use the Plant-Based Trademark. Customers are looking for reassurance from an easy-to-read label and will be able to see the Plant-Based Trademark on products in Lidl stores soon.”
