Project Blue Sky offers an incredibly unique experience to people -- to participate in a plane-building project that will eventually take them all on a flight of accomplishment. Members of Simply Fly's program can be as young as nine and as old as 99 and require no previous experience.
Work stations at the hangar will be provided and everyone will participate in training beforehand. The plane they will be building is from a Van RV-12 Aircraft kit, which is the sports car of the aviation world. It will take approximately 2,000 hours to complete and everyone who worked on the plane will be invited for a special flight after the FAA approval.
The purpose of this plane building project is to inspire future pilots, architects and engineers, sparking interest in aviation with collaborative work. The finished plane will then be taken across the US, acting as an ambassador of aviation.
